Newborn baby in basket pullback session

This is another pullback session from the collaborative session with Xanadu Dummert of Xanadu Dummert Photography and Lavay of Lavay's Photography. In this session, a polypaper backdrop was used instead of a beanbag. I plan on buying some polypaper backdrop because it looks like the real deal without having to lug around heavy props. I love things that are pretty and practical!

Here is a shot of Xanadu Dummert's great studio! Her beautiful newborn daughter, Charlie, was positioned in the basket and both Lavay and Xanadu were trying to soothe her.

Newborn pullback session using a beanbag

Xanadu Dummert of Xanadu Dummert Photography was gracious enough to invite me to her spacious studio when she had fellow photographer, Lavay of Lavay's Photography, come over to do a photo shoot with her newborn Charlie. It was great to see the collaboration between the two photographers. I decided to do some pullback shots knowing how much I've learned from viewing other pullback shots.

Here is Xanadu's newborn posing beanbag. The key is to layer the blankets so that it is easy to just pull them back, which means less time is spent setting up.

We then set up the beanbag in front of the backdrop stand and used clamps to secure the blankets to the backdrop stand. Clamps can be easily purchased at a home improvement store. Lavay used an app that played sounds of a heartbeat for white noise to keep baby Charlie asleep.

Finally, Lavay positioned Charlie on the beanbag and wrapped her up tight.

Handsome Hunter

Hunter is going to grow up to be one handsome boy! Part of being an on-location photographer is working with what is readily available, such as the basket that Hunter's mom had. However, the basket had a handle that cut off Hunter's face in some of the pictures. In post production,  I was able to remove the basket handle-voila! He already had great baby skin, so I just emphasized his creamy baby skin.
